Getting to CAAPS

CAAPS does not provide transport for clients entering or exiting our programs.

We can however collect clients from transit stations within the Darwin and Palmerston area (Darwin airport and Darwin/Palmerston bus interchange) if their arrival time falls within our work hours (8am to 4pm Monday to Friday).

Coming from Darwin/Palmerston

Those who live locally are expected to make their own way to CAAPS for assessment and admission in to program. If an agency has helped you with your application to CAAPS they may be able to assist you with transport. If you are making your own way please check current bus timetables here.

The closest bus stop to CAAPS is on Vanderlin drive, next to the Boulter road turn off (opposite Berrimah Police centre, by Yilli Reung and Milkwood Steiner school). You can then walk 600metres from here to CAAPS.

Coming from Katherine area

The Bodhi bus and Katherine Coaches (Barefoot bus) run from Katherine to Darwin. You can also get from many communities to Katherine (and then on to Darwin) on these buses.

If you let us know before, CAAPS staff can pick you up from the Palmerston Bus exchange if your bus arrives during the day – 8am in the morning until 4pm in the afternoon, Monday to Friday.

If your bus does not arrive in Darwin/Palmerston until the late afternoon – sorry this means you will need to make your own way from the bus stop to CAAPS. If an agency has helped you with your application to CAAPS they may be able to assist you with a voucher for a taxi.

You can get the Barefoot bus in to Katherine from Borroloola, Lajamanu, Minyerri, Ngukurr, Tennant Creek and Gapuwiyak (Dry season).

You can get the Bodhi bus in to Katherine from Borroloola, Gapuwiyak, Lajamanu, Minyerri. Plus Bulman & Ngukurr in the wet season, and Numbulwar in the dry season.

Both bus services stop at the communities along the way on these routes. Follow the links above for timetables or to book travel.

Coming from Central Australia

You can travel to Darwin from Alice Springs, Ti Tree, Ali Curung, Tennant Creek, Elliot and many communities in between on the Greyhound bus.

You can also catch the Barefoot bus bus from Tennant Creek or Elliot (more information in ‘Coming from Katherine area’).

Coming from W.A.

The Greyhound bus runs services from Western Australia through to Darwin. Check their website for details.

Coming by plane

If you arrive between 8 in the morning and 4 in the afternoon Monday – Friday and you let us know before, CAAPS staff can you pick up from the airport. If your plane arrives after these times sorry this means you will need to make your own way from the airport to CAAPS. If an agency has helped you with your application to CAAPS they may be able to assist you with a voucher for a taxi.
