The Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters (HIPPY) is a free, two-year, home-based early childhood learning program that empowers parents to be their child’s first teacher. Operating across Australia, it supports families with young children, focusing on literacy, numeracy, school readiness, and building confidence through fun educational activities.

HIPPY gives you access to fun, free tools and activities for you and your child – you’ll gain new skills and confidence and connect with other parents.

Am I eligible to join HIPPY?

Your child must be aged 3 as of the next school year, and you live in the provider’s catchment area. Contact the provider to see if your family is one which may receive priority access to the program 

How much does it cost?

HIPPY is free for families.

 Do I have to be Aboriginal? 

HIPPY Darwin North is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander focused site. Everyone is welcome.
